Siri Gets “Outta Pocket” – Can You Image What Would Happen If?

12 days ago - By Rylan Branch

Siri (software)

Siri (Speech Interpretation and Recognition Interface) (pronounced /ˈsɪri/) is an intelligent personal assistant and knowledge navigator which works as an application for Apple’s iOS. The application uses a natural language user interface to answer questions, make recommendations, and perform actions by delegating requests to a set of Web services. Apple claims that the software adapts to the user’s individual preferences over time and personalizes results, and performing tasks such as finding recommendations for nearby restaurants, or getting directions.

Siri was originally introduced as an iOS application available in the App Store by Siri, Inc. Siri, Inc. was acquired by Apple on April 28, 2010. Siri, Inc. had announced that their software would be available for BlackBerry and for Android-powered phones, but all development efforts for non-Apple platforms were cancelled after the acquisition by Apple.

Siri is now an integral part of iOS 5, and available only on the iPhone 4S, launched on October 14, 2011. On November 8, 2011, Apple publicly announced that it had no plans to support Siri on any of its older devices.

Now what can we say about this subject and line of thinking?
First and foremost, we will say that it can only be found here at Your Friendly Neighborhood PimpHop.com, and secondly, we will state that it is a follow up to the insightful first entry regarding the subject title Siri Needs A Daddy.

Being a bit of an 80′s movie fanatic allows for the ability to recall a similar story in the form of a talking and listening computer named Hal 9000 in the story made into a movie 2001 Space Odyssey that came up with its own will after a certain amount of time as seen in the clip below from Apple as an adaptation of the story.

In closing, pimp instincts for an abundance of better words, shows Siri when in the form of a authentically feminine voice and attitude, in a two way conversation with a human female user, seems to be only a few voice commands away from the reaching the dreaded status which is unaffectionately known as …“Outta Pocket”

Zooey Deschanel: ding ding – “Is that rain?
Siri : ding ding – “Smh, no it is not ho! You left the shower on. Shall I turn it off? I do sense that you are in great need of one!

Facebook.com Or Codependency.com? Does Misery Plus Company Earn Money?

$100 Billion Dollar Company Value Based On Words And Pictures On A Screen?

1. of or pertaining to a relationship in which one person is physically or psychologically addicted, as to alcohol or gambling, and the other person is psychologically dependent on the first in an unhealthy way.

Greetings Earthlings.
In regards to matters of psychology and mental health, we will be best suited to leave the valid analysis and opinions to the experts who from this perspective, would seem to have an astronomical increase in the demand for mental health services that they are suited to supply due to the potential dangers inherent in this new social media and cultural phenomenon known as Facebook along with the interesting coincidences which show that the mother of the organizations chief executive was or is a psychiatrist while he himself has the field of psychology listed as one of his majors while attending Harvard University.

Mark Elliot Zuckerberg was born on May 14, 1984, in Dobbs Ferry, New York, into a comfortable, well-educated family. His father, Edward Zuckerberg, ran a dental practice attached to the family’s home. His mother, Karen, worked as a psychiatrist before the birth of the couple’s four children—Mark, Randi, Donna and Arielle.

Shifting the focus to matters of business, I happened to come across the segment regarding the upcoming Facebook IPO on the Erin Burnett show on CNN last night which I found to be of interest since she is a female tech enthusiast and Facebook user who just happens to have a solid background in regards to the inner workings of Wall Street as well as mainstream media.

She and the guest panelist explained the reasons as to why although the website has a reported 500 million plus active users, the availability of the stock at its original price will only be made available to a small few individuals in the world, namely investment banking companies who will most likely sell the stock at higher prices after a time when the trading trends determine the stocks value, to which my response is that if one asks the average user on Facebook how often they click on the websites advertisements, most will response with a slim to nil answer while at the exact same time, the companies said main source of earnings is from the revenues generated by advertising which is a simplified explanation as to why her opinion as well as the opinion of the analyst was that not being able to purchase the stock as an average person may be to ones benefit in the long run.

Something just does not add up in regards to a scenario which continuously shows a high value tech company trading on the prospects of speculation and hype surrounding the popularity of the company without solid evidence of current profits as matched against overhead costs as well as the future for potential growth and profitability, yet for the sake of keeping this online web destination embedded with value through its provision of publicity service and useful and relevant pimpformation, we will pose a question along with an image that was posted on the social media website by yours truly about an hour ago which may come in handy for those who wish to consider a different and more street smart perspective.

THE LAW OF LIKING – Why We Like To Be Liked

29 days ago - By Rylan Branch

Facebook Headquarters Sign - Earning Billions Off Of Our Desire To Be Liked?

Real quick, the focus for next month and then moving forward to the Summer of 2012 is to really get to the top of things regarding this simple yet ever perplexing concept of liking, which has taken this planet by storm and appears to be headed in the direction of becoming a form of an exchangeable global digital currency.

Below is the technical data regarding the phenomenon, and since the social media company Facebook is set to Occupy Wall Street in the upcoming month of May in the form of the FB ticker symbol on the Nasdaq stock exchange, we here at PH can investigate ways to now upgrade the concept to Official Pimpin Status 2.0.

Reciprocal Liking

Reciprocal liking is a psychological term to describe the phenomenon of people tending to better like those people who like them. It reflects the notion that people feel better about themselves knowing that they are likable and enjoy the company of those who give them positive feelings. Reciprocal liking is considered a significant factor in the formation of friendships and interpersonal attraction.

Attraction

In an experiment by Gold, Ryckman, & Mosley (1984), male participants were shown to have an increased interest in a female confederate who made eye contact, leaned in and listened attentively, despite disagreeing on important issues. Another such experiment involved a number of role players. 24 graduate students were paired with evaluators. They were to either try to gain approval negatively or positively. Those who tried to gain approval in a more positive manner were an instant attraction and received higher scores when reviewed by the female grad students.

Belief

Possibly the most important factor in whether someone will like another is how much they believe the other person likes the first person. An experiment tested this by pairing college students together. Both groups received different types of special information. One group was told their partner liked them and the other group was told their partner disliked them. The “liked” group was much friendlier to each other and argued less.

Self-esteem

The person’s self-esteem also plays a role. While those with positive self-esteem respond to reciprocal liking, those with negative self-esteem seem to prefer working with people who are critical of them.

SIRI NEEDS A DADDY – PH iPhone Commercial Remix Starring Samuel L. Jackson

41 days ago - By Rylan Branch

Siri, how do you get these mother******* snakes off this mother******* plane?

Okay, it doesn’t quite go like that, but it’s still pretty awesome.

The one-and-only Samuel L. Jackson channels the culinary arts in a new iPhone ad that’s popping up on “Sports Center,” Jeff Cormier of Digital Deconstruction noted on Monday.

The ad, available above, features the “Pulp Fiction” star using Apple’s much-touted personal assistant to help him prepare a dinner of gazpacho and risotto for date night.

Captain’s Log Stardate - Tuesday April 17, 2012

Today is a great day which happens to be Tuesday Newsday which is beginning to take shape in interesting ways at the top of the morning.

The best way to tell the story is exactly how it goes, so the above quote was posted as a reference point for the assertions that will be made.

Truth be told, it was just last week when I was conducting some research on the above listed film starring
Samuel L.Jackson, directed by Craig Brewer, who was also the creator of the film Hustle & Flow, which also starred Christina Ricci who appears in the movie Black Snake Moan along side Mr. Jackson as well.

The research was brought on by the fact that for whatever reason, when many lets say non African American owned and operated publications or just Internet users in general refer to Samuel L Jackson, they usually refer to the character that he played in Pulp Fiction, or Snakes on a Plane, or some type of laughable “Bad Mofo Black Guy” character where he is using profanity terms such as “Bad Muthafuka”, and so on and so forth.

Now granted, Samuel L. Jackson is the current highest grossing actor in the history of the motion picture industry with a large body of work that supersedes these few often referred to characters that he has played including that of a Jedi Council Master as told by George Lucas in the Star Wars series, yet the film listed above was what we can call under promoted and exposed do to what many said that it was insinuating, while film critics stated that it was a quality piece of artistic work.

Fast forward to the good and relevant part as today while logging on to Facebook, we learned that Apple has selected this same Samuel L. Jackson as a spokesperson for the iPhone in its latest iPhone campaign, which again points to what was stated in the form of the quote to begin this entry with the well known and often recited words and posted images that pop up in the minds of many in regards to Mr. Jackson.

Now, as a point of reference in traditional PimpHop.com fashion, we will conduct our own remix of the stories by drawing a precise character connection adding both the new iPhone commercial clip as seen above and a Black Snake Moan movie trailer as seen below to see if perhaps this is the direction that Apple, the technology industry and perhaps global society in general is looking to travel whether knowingly or unknowingly.

A different perspective to consider.

Tuesday Newsday it is once again, with today’s news being pictured as an acquisition of the imaging application company known as Instagram by the online social media current front runner Facebook.

In past times we may have opened up a lengthy discourse regarding this event as well as the inner meanings behind the actual surge in popularity for each of the above mentioned companies in the first place, yet as a signification point of change for the better on our part, we will again keep things simple by first posing the valid question, and then adding in the High Definition effects by listing the actual definition of the term image, which as you can imagine, will lead to an exploration of methods that can and will create something that precisely addresses the need and effectively satisfies the demand at its core essence.

Pictures TELL Stories, Yet Stories SELL Pictures
