Facebook & Single Mothers – Is There A Connection?

March 16th, 2010

Welcome Home!
Before you jump bad on the header image, let the record reflect that it is one of the highest ranking image searches on Google, so this Tuesday Newsday installment is definitely one to grown on, plus in all honesty, I think the shirt message is fly.

I almost talked myself out of posting any content today for reasons that I will explain later, yet I see my fingers moving on the keyboard as if they have a mind of their own, so let it be.

Facebook.

That is a popular word, and in actuality as you know, it is the name of a social networking website. It is in fact just a website, and perhaps I am able to perceive it in that way because I am actually employed at a website which holds the content that you are now reading.

I do tend to spend a little bit of time on the social networking sites, as they are flag points for this online publication, and part of my job description entails that I observe the ins and out from an administrative perspective.

What I will share with you today is an insider tip, which is that all websites actually do have an idea and philosophy behind them, and the one here at PimpHop.com is actually put out in the forefront while others are buried in the fine print and attract individuals who tend to more or less follow the crowd, unaware of the agenda that a website may hold for its users.

Here is a business strategy quote from Facebook creator and CEO,
Mark Zakerburg which is more of what insiders in technology and business people may be paying attention to.

Facebook’s CEO and creator’s secret: “Move fast and break things.”
Mark Zuckerberg On Innovation

Since we are all grown ups, I can leave it to you to fill in your own blanks in regards to who and what may show up as broke in your own individual life experience, and just share the news and views from the head, which eventually makes its way to the body.

From my perspective, it may be a simple case of finding what I’m looking for, which is a part of being human, yet I cannot help but notice the amount of women and men in broken relationships when visiting most of the social networking sites, including the front runner known as Facebook.

I would distance myself on placing any of the blame of website creators and service providers as the facts reveal that an individual must choose to log on and pay attention to anything, including, but not limited to Internet websites.

This entry is simply to upon up discussion and provoke thoughts, and again, it sheds some light on the reality that there is in fact always something behind all things, so I will leave you with an valid question that I have been asking myself since the start of 2010.

Which is correct.
A. Dysfunctional relationships cause individuals to spend extended amounts of time on Facebook.

B.Spending extended amounts of time on Facebook are the cause of dysfunctional relationships.

My estimation of the popular response is that It’s Complicated,
yet my two cents say only if and when individuals decide for it to be.

A different perspective to consider.

Customer Service – Two Simple Words

March 15th, 2010

(T.G.I.M.) Thank God Its Monday.
As stated in a Tweet last week, things are coming together like a $5 Dollar Taco Bell Box That Rocks, and the time has come to grow this online publication into what it is destined to become, which is actually whatever we and our  “higher ups” decide for it to be.

Spring forward is the sign for the season, and from the looks of the weather here in Southern California to begin the week with, we are seeing that the grassroots approach that we adhere to at Your Friendly Neighborhood PimpHop.com will surely result in a lush harvest.

This entry is simply a benchmark that indicates what is in the works, in preparation for the bright sunshine days ahead, and for those whom it may concern, it is a progress report that demonstrates how effectively we are able to play our part in the recovery act, as jobs, like all else that exists, were, are, and will continue to be… created.

Stay Tuned.

Healthcare – A Numbers Game According To Obama

March 11th, 2010

Greetings Earthlings.
Before we begin today’s proceedings, let the record reflect the truth of the matter, which is that this post was inspired by seeing the image above on one the social networking outlet image galleries for President Obama, and feeling like it was something pimpish looking that would fit in perfectly on this online publication as it is congruent all the way down to the color scheme.

This type of thinking tends to lead to correct decisions time and time again, and it will most likely all show to in fact be a numbers game when the big picture finally comes together.

The White House website seems to have taken the initiative to demonstrate this idea, and we at Your Friendly Neighborhood PimpHop.com will simply follow the leader and lend our support.

In regards to more important matters, I actually had the opportunity to watch a C-SPAN segment with Mitt Romney last week, who is known around the world as a heavy hitter in regards to big business and economics.

He actually had some insightful things to say before he turned his sights on Barack Obama and what he believes are missteps in his prioritizing of issues to be addressed and resolved for the nation.

The common argument is that while all of the matters on the desk and mind of The President actually matter, including foreign and domestic conflicts, energy, taxes, etc. the most important subject matter facing the nation is in regards to the economy and job creation, and that President Obama has placed healthcare reform at the highest level of importance, which is out of sync with his campaign promises. This has caused me to reflect on what my own personal opinions are regarding the matter.

As usual, I came to the conclusion that this subject has already been adressed in clear detail in June of 2009 in an entry entitled
Healthcare & The Economy -The Realest Talk.

I will read it at another time to see if my thoughts have changed any, yet for now, the question still remains which is

Can a sick person work efficiently and produce sufficiently?

In regards to being a head of state, I would agree with President Obama regarding the placement of the health status of the nation at the highest level of importance, yet this would contradict much of what the popular opinion leads many to believe which is that economic hardships are the cause of health issues and not vice versa.

I will close by stating that in my humble opinion, while health insurance is of importance, health ensure-ance is of the essence and the most effective method of reform.

As a bonus tip to ensure that your decision to read this entry was an excellent investment of time, according to many experts, there actually is a very simple and effective way to be sure, and that way is to just

Raise your hand, if you’re Sure.

Works for us, and it might could work for you too!

A different perspective to consider.

The Academy Of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences

March 7th, 2010

Its that time of the year again, known as Oscar time.
I decided to do something a bit different today by exploring some of the mysteries and interesting facts about the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences, which is responsible for the highly coveted achievement award known as the Oscar.

First and foremost, although the official name of the award is The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) Award, it is unofficially known as the Oscar, even though there is no known factual reason as to why it is called by this name.

Secondly, there is a popular urban legend that claims that  the statue was molded in the form of a woman’s body and an actress named

Delores del Rio In Technicolor

Delores del Rio posed naked for the original creators.

Thirdly, the mysterious churchlike building in the header image of this post was the original headquarters for The Academy before it moved to a near by facility on Wilshire Blvd with a more updated corporate office feel. The location is now a library and research center that houses archives, and has somewhat of a top secret reading room entrance requirement that does not permit any form of notepads, pens, cameras, or cell phones, etc.

La Cienega & Beverly Blvds- Thirty Mile Zone Center Intersection

For whatever reason, durring the 60’s , some form of a studio zone as formed which required any work done by actors outside of this zone to be compensated for travel expenses. The zone was a radius of thirty miles, hence you have the name thirty mile zone, popularly known to you as TMZ.

The research center library is located within 2 miles of this location at
333 N La Cienega Blvd.

Back to reality, if thats what it really is, many mysterious and borderline paranormal activities have been reported to have happened to many famous and non famous individuals within this zone, and I have always had the same inclinations to investigate the reasons why.

There really is in fact an artistic and scientific component to pictures, in this particular case, motion pictures, by which an an Academy was established for study and exploration, so I invite any of our more creatively minded viewers to visit the official website for The Academy and see if you can discover any resources that you may find useful.

In closing, as stated in the past, with the introduction of this new digital media element being used, known as the Internet, we are pushing for an additional branch of emphasis to be added to the current 15 discipline categories of
The Academy, and perhaps its my imagination working overtime that explains why I feel that there is a connection regarding a near marathon of Tom Hanks movies on TNT on the evening before the Academy Awards ceremonies, while he is or was actually acting as The President of the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences.

Forrest Gump was named after the founder of the Klu Klux Klan as an testament to the fact that some folks just do things for unexplainable reasons.
Then again, the first official Hollywood Motion Picture Blockbuster release was The Birth Of A Nation in 1915, regarding this very same subject matter.

The film Forrest Gump featured a man (played by Tom Hanks) named after Nathan Bedford Forrest, the first Imperial Wizard of the KKK. The film shows Nathan Bedford Forrest riding a horse in Klan regalia.

A different perspective to consider.

Change – Viewer Appreciation Day

February 24th, 2010

Welcome Home!
We are nearing the end of the second month of the new year/millennium, and I am getting an early start on my Spring cleaning duties, so your patience during the building phase is appreciated.

Whether or not its the most important part of the process remains to be seen, yet I know for certain that my favorite part of the mission, is in the production of the content that you are viewing, and this particular subject regarding  change will actually shed  light on the reasons why.

As a New Years/Decade resolution, it has been decided that taking different and more refined courses of action is required to achieve better results than the previous outings and that is a basic explanation of the word known as CHANGE.

Speaking from the heart is something that will remain as it has always resulted in desirable results, so this topic will follow suit.

What I tend to notice first and foremost is a general slowing of growth and expansion across the board, and it can only point to some form of a thought and action process which is contrary to change, as it appears that wasting time is the new normal.

I may very well have to do with online social networking and the philosophy behind it, yet and still one key area of CHANGE on my part is to limit the amount of time and energy dedicated to idle chatter.

Each year as usual, around the middle of December, I begin to hear and see many resolutions in regards to how the incoming year will be the one that counts, yet I also see the same exact behavior which leads to a repeat of the same thing over and over again with no actual progress made, and of course I wonder why.

From what I have researched, this tendency is commonly known as
setting yourself up for failure,or self sabotage and has something to do with an individuals inability or reluctance to take action and steps in a different direction.

This is said to stem from a fear of the unfamiliar which leads people to be stuck in a rut of familiarity( comfort zone) which leads to nowhere or somewhere even worse.

When I monitor my own proceeding, I often use a valuable tool which may reflect an even deeper reason for my tendency to share my thoughts and emotions on a consistent basis, which is to monitor and measure my progress and growth by referring to the archive list which is located in the right hand column of the screen.

A link to the month of February 2009 can be found here.

The results which I am satisfied with are kept, and the ones that I feel can be done away with are purged by simply doing away with the thoughts, feelings, and actions which led to those results.

What I do tend to notice again, which is cause for concern, is the amount of individuals who are not evolving due to this simple formula not being applied, and it seems to point to a reluctance to move ahead
(excel) for the sake of simply trying to stay caught up with the group, which is defined as (mediocrity).

From a creative standpoint, it shows up as a lack of innovation because individuals simply seek to expand on what is currently being done, which again tends to lead to nowhere but a state known as redundancy.

As easy as it sounds to make a change, even I myself am confronted with the scenario on a continuous basis.

This post can serve as an example because while typing it, my thoughts are telling me that it requires thought to process it, and since it is way beyond a 140 character limit, many will seek to discard it for something less taxing on the mind.

I still enter it for my own sake and leave it on the table for any who may find it useful, as my belief is that the human mind is in fact like a muscle, and with a lack of exercise , it is most likely to become weak, sick, and dysfunctional.

Of course we do have economic turmoil to deal with, yet I believe that the condition of the economy and all things made by humans are direct results of the conditions of the humans in a society.

For your own viewing pleasure and education benefit, here is a chart as well as a link to a online resource that explains the matter from an expert perspective in clear detail.

For most people behavior change occurs gradually over time, with the person progressing from being uninterested, unaware, or unwilling to make a change (precontemplation), to considering a change (contemplation), to deciding and preparing to make a change (preparation). This is followed by definitive action, and attempts to maintain the new behavior over time (maintenance). People can progress in both directions in the stages of change. Most people will “recycle” through the stages of change several times before the change becomes fully established (Zimmerman et al., 2000).

From a Pimp perspective it would flow as follows.

Change is synonomus with money for a reason, as currency does in fact circulate, so if you wish to check if the idea is valid,, simply walk into a store and ask the cashier if they can give you change for a $20 dollar bill, and when they retrieve the change out of the register, see if they will give you the change without you offering the $20 dollar bill.

Moral of the story?
CHANGE- You need to have some to offer in order to receive it, which is known as even exchange.
Get it?   ex-CHANGE. (Rylan Branch, et al.,2010)

Appreciation- Increasing in value.
Depreciation- Decreasing in value.

Viewer Appreciation = Increase in viewer value.

Got it?
Good, now on with the show.
