Meet Zendaya

A talented actress, singer and dancer, Zendaya is a triple threat who not only stars as K.C. Cooper, on Disney Channel’s #1 rated show “K.C. Undercover,” but is billed as a Co-Producer as well! Zendaya captured the hearts of audiences – kids and families alike – when she danced her way to the finals in season sixteen of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars,” The fashion-forward star won the 2014 Radio Disney Music Awards You’ve Got Swag! – Artist With the Best Style award as well as the Choice Style Icon award at the Teen Choice Awards. She was chosen as a member of People Magazine’s StyleWatch Celeb Style Council (2014-15). Zendaya has co-hosted the MTV Movie Awards Pre-Show and appeared as a guest fashion correspondent numerous times on E! Entertainment’s hit show “Fashion Police” with the legendary Joan Rivers. Her self-titled debut album was released on Hollywood Records in 2013. Her Platinum single “Replay” earned the singer a NAACP Image Awards Nomination for Outstanding New Artist and the 2014 BMI Social Star Award. Astoundingly Her video for the single “Replay” garnered over 99 million views. She is also an accomplished author. In 2013, she authored the book, Between U and Me: How to Rock Your Tween Years with Style and Confidence. Zendaya, which means “to give thanks” in Shona (a Bantu language native to the Shona people of Zimbabwe), was born in Oakland, California. She grew up with the nearby California Shakespeare Theater in Orinda, where her mother worked as the House Manager. In addition to training at the theater’s student conservatory program, Zendaya performed in numerous stage productions and helped her mom seat patrons and sell raffle tickets to benefit the theater. Zendaya is truly passionate about giving back! and is currently an ambassador for Convoy of Hope, an organization dedicated to providing help and hope to those who are impoverished, hungry and hurting. For her 18th birthday Zendaya celebrated by supporting Convoy of Hope’s feedONE initiative to help feed at least 150 hungry children in Haiti, Tanzania and the Philippines for a year. She has also worked with UNICEF, servings as its 2014 Trick-or-Treat spokesperson to help inspire kids to raise funds for the organization’s lifesaving programs. She has also found time to work with Make-A-Wish Foundation, Keep A Child Alive organization and she was an ambassador for the Children’s Miracle Network.
