Wisdom Is Better Than Silver & Gold – Rev Run's Wisdom

How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver! – Proverbs 16:16

And we’re back, sort of.
Once again, although I was and still am on vacation, I fell victim to the habit of being productive and making effective use of my time.

I had the chance to reflect on matters of importance regarding the essence of what is needed. as well as ways to be of more effective service to others as that was and still is the prime directive that I adhere to.

As usual, I was reminded of something that I have always held as a testimonial of the truth about what is in limited supply yet in high demand in the world and on the web, especially for may women, which is the one thing that we as civilized human beings tend to be in search and need of when all other methods of gaining satisfactory results have failed, and the name of that thing is WISDOM.

Wisdom is a deep understanding of people, things, events or situations, resulting in the ability to choose or act to consistently produce the optimum results with a minimum of time and energy. Wisdom is the ability to optimally (effectively and efficiently) apply perceptions and knowledge and so produce the desired results. Wisdom is comprehension of what is true or right coupled with optimum judgment as to action. Synonyms include: sagacity, discernment, or insight. Wisdom often requires control of one’s emotional reactions (the “passions”) so that one’s principles, reason and knowledge prevail to determine one’s actions.

I cant honestly say whether or not this new world scenario is trendy or an authentic search for answers, yet it is one of those rare cases where the means justify the ends regardless of the initial motivation.

The name of the individual for the discussion is

Joesph Simmons, known globally as D.J. Run from the influential hip hop duo RUN DMC and now known as Rev Run.

Growing up in the 80’s, the individual pictured above has had a direct impact on me and the entire culture of Hip Hop to the extent that it would not exist in its current form if not for the input of RUN DMC, and the early days of history with his brother Russell Simmons, who is the co founder of
Def Jam Records, and as a matter of historical record, we can take a step back in time to have a point of reference from which to measure how things have evolved.

The clip is from the groundbreaking film called Krush Grove released in 1985, that you should view to gain some insight into where and how things started and where we have arrived at 25 years later.

Run, after various ups and downs,  is now a reverend and motivational speaker with a higher popularity with the youth than many current traditional mega church pastors, and it is interesting how things lead to other things, such as an individual such as Joseph Simmons evolving from rocking clubs and concerts with a street knowledge message,  to becoming a global spiritual leader with his message in essence remaining relatively the same, so as the song says as an explanation,

“cuz it’s like that, and that’s the way it is.”

In closing and as a starting point for a new beginning, the demand is being demonstrated by what we see below which happens to be the most recent entry on our Twitter account.
